Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging !
Ragging in any form is prohibited in the Anbarasu Institute of Medical Science& Research, Nursing, and Hostel Campus. Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or indiscipline activities which cause or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique of a fresher or a junior student.
The application form for admission/enrollment shall have a printed undertaking to be filled up and signed by the candidate to the effect that he/she is aware of the institution’s approach towards ragging and the punishment to which He/she shall be liable if found guilty of ragging. A similar undertaking shall be obtained from the parents/guardian of the applicant.
If the individual committing or abetting are not identified, collective punishment could be resorted to act as a deterrent punishment and to ensure collective pressure on the potential raggers. Ragging in any form is a cognizable and punishable offense and any person caught indulging in ragging shall be liable to be prosecuted and it found guilty he may be imprisoned for a term which may extend to two years with a fine of Rs. 10,000 or as stipulated Principals are instructed to inform the police and take necessary steps to dismiss the student Ragging in any form is prohibited on the Campus College, hostel and teaching hospital. Any student indulging in any form of ragging will be dismissed from the college and hostel. Ragging is a criminal offense punishable under section 116 and various provisions contained in sections of the Indian Penal Code which will impose extreme punishment. Also the guilty will not get admission to any other institution for 3 years. Names of the students found ragging will be reported to the KUHS for further action apart from informing the police.
The day scholar should not enter in any of the blocks in the hostel and the residents in the hostel should not indulge in any act of ragging either in the blocks or in the common rooms or in the dining halls, recreation room, sports ground etc. Honorable Supreme court has issued directions on measures against ragging in Educational Institutions. Medical Council of India is also monitoring anti-ragging actions taken in the medical Colleges. As per the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court, the anti-ragging committee is constituted in the college headed by the dean and other faculties and warden. Separate anti-ragging squads for male and female students have been constituted to check the ragging in the hostel and other places on the college premises.
