B.VOC IN OPERATION THEATRE TECHNOLOGY

An Operation Theatre Technician is a person who looks after all the work and management of the operation theatre, which includes managing the patients in and out of the operation theatre, looking after all the surgical instruments, their sterilization, the arrangement of operation theatre table, dressing table, instrument table, anesthesia table as well as management of the staff. Looking after the drugs required for surgery, anesthetic gases, drapes and all the linen and their sterilization. He/She also assists the surgeon during operations.

In addition to these duties, an Operation Theatre Technician ensures that the operation theatre environment is maintained under strict hygienic and safety standards. They are responsible for preparing patients pre-surgery, assisting the anesthetist, and monitoring equipment functionality during procedures. They also document surgical records, manage inventory, and support post-operative care coordination. Their precision, alertness, and teamwork are crucial to the smooth functioning of any surgical unit.
